August 16 - All gone!

1st chick fledged from box 2 early yesterday along with both parents, it's sibling, the last colony chick was alone last night but fledged early today. So all gone now!

Again, best season so far: 6 breeding pairs all of which had chicks, fledging 14 chicks, with no chick fatalities and including 2 sets of triplets, one set raised by a single parent!

Adult pair in box 6 did not roost so probably gone now.

July 29 - Adults on the move

The new pair in box 5 left same day it seems, not even a night there. Only remaining adults are pairs in boxes 2, 4 & 6.

July 26 - More fledging

Yesterday 1st chick from box 1 fledged and this morning the 2nd went. Also, bizarrely, a new partner for the single parent in box 5 turned up early AM. Never seen this before.

July 25

All adults still roosting at night but occasionally one will stay out.

​

July 22 - 3 more

Last from box 4 and finally (4 days after its siblings) the last from box 3 went 6-7ish AM. Also last from box 6 went around mid-day. 4 chicks left.

July 21 - 2 more

1 from box 4 (early evening amidst thunderstorms and heavy rain) and 1 from box 6, that leaves mature singles in 3 & 6, the mature pair in 1 and the young pair in 2.

July 20 - And more

1st fledge from box 4 at 38 days old.

July 18 - More fledging

Yesterday and today, remaining 2 from box 5 and 2 from box 3, all about 40 days old.

July 16 - First fledge!

1 of the 3 left box 5 mid-morning at 41 days old min.

July 9 - 14th chick!

Just seen 2nd chick in box 2 so all eggs done now and a new colony record!

July 6 - Hatching!

First of 2 eggs in box 2.

June 20 - Missing adult!

Last night 1 adult from box 5 did not roost and still not back today. The 3 chicks are 15 days old

 and weather looks good for next 10 days so hopefully all 3 will make it. Same happened last year in a triplet box and all 3 fledged but they were 35 days old.

June 17 - 2 more eggs!

A 2nd clutch for new pair in box 2. Also 2nd egg hatched in box 1, so now 12 chicks with maybe 2 more to come.

June 13 - And another

1st hatching in box 1, only 1 egg left, unless box 2 lays...

June 12 - More chicks

All 3 now hatched in box 3 (1 very obvious) runt. 2 hatched in 4, 3rd egg looks holed so not sure if that is viable. Also both hatched in box 6. So now 10 chicks. Just waiting for pair of eggs in box 1...

June 8 - Seen 2 chicks being fed in box 3, 1 egg left

At least 1 seen being fed.

June 5 - First chick!

Arrived in box 5 late yesterday, 20 days after first egg. Later today we saw that all 3 have hatched.​

June 4 - Box 2 fails

A few days ago 1 bird failed to roost at night and has not been back since. We have found an egg on the floor outside and appears to be no eggs left in the box. The single bird was still roosting at night so not sure what happened. However, a new mate has now appeared and they are getting to know each other, so hopefully a new clutch of eggs soon. So now down to 13 eggs.

First for box 1 after 11 days.

May 22 - 3 eggs today!

A 1st for box 6, 3rd for boxes 3 & 4, so 12 in total so far.

May 21 - 2nd egg in box 2

May 20 - And 2 more eggs!

1 each in boxes 3 and 4, but had to replace an egg in box back inti the nest cup.

May 19 - 2 more eggs!

A third for box 5 and 1st for box 2, 6 in total so far. Seem to be coming think and fast this season.

Boxes 3 & 4, laid AM.

May 15 - First egg of season.

Early PM in box 5, for first pair, after 10 days.

May 13 - 6th pair!

Finally, after 10 days waiting, our last single bird has a mate, arriving early AM. One bird from box 6 spent the night out but came back to nest around 6 AM.

May 12 - 5th pair!

May 11 - 4the pair!

Mate for box 2 in the evening.

​

May 10 - 3 birds in 1 day!

1st bird for box 4 arrived early AM. Then its mate arrived in the late evening along with our 9th bird in box 6.

May 5 - First pair!

5th bird arrived 5ish in box 7 but then later seemed to appear in box 5 to make our first pair of the season.

Early morning arrival in box 1. New behaviour for us as bird in 5 clings to vertical wall!

Arrived in box 5 at 9.30 am. Then left soon after, returning at 6.30pm.
